CSV format and spreadsheet safety

File format

• Comma-separated CSV.

• UTF-8 encoding with a byte-order mark for spreadsheet compatibility.

• CRLF line endings.

• One row per Shopify line item.

• Filename: order-custom-fields_YYYY-MM-DD_YYYY-MM-DD.csv.

Fixed columns

The first columns are always: Order name, Created at, Line item title, SKU, Variant title, and Quantity.

Dynamic columns

Each distinct included custom-field key creates its own Order: or Item: column. Deselecting a field after Analyze removes its column without removing order or line-item rows. Included dynamic columns follow the fixed columns in this order: ordinary Order keys, underscore Order keys, ordinary Item keys, then underscore Item keys. Keys are sorted deterministically using their original strings.

Quoting and preservation

Commas, double quotes, newlines, Unicode, emoji, URLs, and multiline values are written using standards-compliant CSV quoting. Quotes inside quoted values are doubled. Values are not silently truncated.

Spreadsheet-formula protection

Merchant-controlled values that could be interpreted as spreadsheet formulas are prefixed with a literal apostrophe before CSV serialization. This protection covers values beginning with =, +, -, or @ and is the intentional exception to exact value preservation.

Date and time

Created at is rendered in the Shopify shop timezone with seconds and a numeric UTC offset, for example 2026-08-12T13:15:20+01:00.
